About Us About Us

Marc A. Buoniconti sustained a paralyzing spinal cord injury in 1985 while playing football for the Citadel. Son of Hall of Fame Miami Dolphin Nick Buoniconti, Marc and his father have dedicated their lives to helping cure paralysis.

After his initial injury Marc was confined to a respirator for nearly a year relying on a machine for his every breath. Marc subsequently weaned himself off of the ventilator and began a crusade to make a difference in the lives of others.

Marc, never forgetting about his struggles to breathe, teamed up with The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the American Lung Association of Florida to raise money and awareness for pulmonary research.

In 1999, Marc agreed to serve as the Honorary Chairman of the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival and has continued to chair the festival for the past eight years. Marc was so impressed and enamored with the wonderful festival that he made a commitment to launch the first Annual Coral Gables Wine and Food Festival in 2002.

Since 2002 the Coral Gables Wine and Food Festival has become one of the most prestigious and well-attended events in South Florida.

"I am proud to announce that through the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida are once again the Title Sponsor for this years' festival" said Marc Buoniconti. As founding sponsor for the past six years, The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is a federally recognized Indian tribe, exercising sovereign powers of self-governance within tribal lands. Currently, the Tribe has four distinct Reservation Areas in the State of Florida: Tamiami Trail, Alligator Alley and two on Krome Avenue and U.S. 41. The Enterprises, which are owned and operated by the Tribe include the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming; Miccosukee Indian Village & Gift Shop; Miccosukee Airboat Rides and Miccosukee Golf & Country Club.

We thank all of our sponsors for making the Coral Gables Wine and Food Festival a huge success. We look forward to a wonderful event on April 10th 2010! See you there!
